Perdagangan Satwa Liar Ilegal di Singapura Meningkat Dua Kali Lipat Melalui Telegram
SEAoday.com, Singapura-The Animal Concerns Research and Education Society melaporkan pasar satwa liar ilegal di Singapura berkembang pesat di Telegram selama tiga tahun terakhir. Dari tahun 2021 hingga 2023, terjadi peningkatan pemesanan hewan liar terlarang hingga hampir dua kali lipat. Dari 333 menjadi 660 pemesanan, di Telegram.
Di antara satwa liar yang diperdagangkan secara ilegal adalah kura-kura bintang India, kura-kura macan tutul, dan kalajengking. Jenis-jenis hewan ini yang mengalami peningkatan permintaan terbesar di telegram.
Di seluruh dunia, penjualan kura-kura jenis tersebut secara komersial telah dilarang, tetapi mereka tetap dicari sebagai hewan peliharaan.
The Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES) memberi tahu pihak berwenang tentang masalah ini pada tahun 2021. Pihak berwenang kemudian memantai dan menindak orang-orang yang terlibat di jual beli illegal ini.
ACRES juga menambahkan bahwa beberapa penjual menyadari bahwa pihak berwenang sedang memantau kelompok-kelompok ini, namun para pelanggar justru berbagi informasi tentang penggerebekan.
