MPR Emphasizes Importance of Indonesia-Singapore Trade Cooperation

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Deputy of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, known as Ibas, emphasized the importance of strengthening trade cooperation between Indonesia and other countries, particularly Singapore, to boost national economic growth.
Speaking during a discussion with the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) on April 24, Ibas invited greater collaboration in investment and trade initiatives.
"We look forward to welcoming you. We hope to foster collaboration, investment, and trade programs between Indonesia and Singapore," Ibas said, as quoted on Antara, in a statement released Sunday.
Ibas, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin), stressed that facing global challenges requires strong partnerships between governments, parliaments, and businesses.
He expressed optimism about Indonesia’s economic future, noting, as quoted on Antara, "we hope to achieve up to eight percent growth in the coming years. There are big opportunities ahead that must be pursued sustainably."
Ibas also assured that Indonesia remains a trustworthy investment destination. "Our country is safe, and we continue to improve business-friendly regulations and law enforcement to encourage confidence among investors," he said as quoted on Antara.
Second Deputy Chairman of the SICC Board, Wong Joo Seng, welcomed Ibas' remarks, acknowledging Indonesia’s significant progress in stability and predictability. However, he encouraged further investor-friendly reforms.
"Indonesia has much to offer Singapore, especially in terms of abundant labor and a rapidly growing market," Wong noted as quoted on Antara.
