Jakarta Projected to become Business and Financial Center after Nusantara become Capital City
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Head of Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Bambang Susantono said Jakarta will become a business and financial center after Nusantara (IKN) becomes the capital of Indonesia.
The government will start moving the capital to IKN this year. Bambang said that with Jakarta's current population, Jakarta will become a financial superhub. He pointed out that this has been done by Kazakhstan with Astana, the new capital city after Almaty. Therefore, Indonesia and Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding and made IKN and Astana as sister cities.
Bambang said the relocation of the capital city to IKN will create a mutually reinforcing relationship between the two cities with Jakarta serving as a business and financial centre, while IKN will be a smart and inclusive city. IKN will also become an economic centre outside Java.
