SEAToday.com, Beijing - President Prabowo Subianto attended the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Indonesian and Chinese companies, totaling $10.07 billion.

“Chinese business involvement in Asia plays a key role in our cooperation. I had positive meetings with both the president and prime minister, where we reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening this partnership,” President Prabowo stated at the Indonesia-China Business Forum 2024 in Beijing, China, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, as reported by Antara.

During the forum organized by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) China Committee (KIKT), about 20 Indonesian and Chinese companies agreed to collaborate across various sectors—including advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, healthcare, downstream industries, food security, and finance—collectively valued at $10.07 billion.

“This represents our synergistic approach in all areas: education, business, industry, and people-to-people exchanges, and we’re highly optimistic about these future prospects,” President Prabowo added.

President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia and China’s cooperation is essential for regional stability and growth.

“To set a modern example, I advocate for non-confrontational cooperation as the path to peace. Indonesia has always remained neutral and respected all major global powers,” he remarked.

President Prabowo also noted his admiration for ancient Chinese wisdom, sharing one of his guiding beliefs: “A thousand friends are too few; one enemy is too many, yīqiān gè péngyǒu tài shǎo, yīgè dírén tài duō,” he said, switching from English to Mandarin, which was met with applause from the forum attendees.

He expressed that Indonesia is open to increased Chinese investment. “We will work diligently to create a positive environment and provide excellent facilities for our Chinese friends,” he assured.

Additionally, President Prabowo noted the significant influence of Chinese heritage in many global leaders. “I believe many leaders around the world carry some Chinese DNA, perhaps even myself. Moving forward, only through collaboration can we foster understanding, and only through understanding can we achieve peace and prosperity. Let’s commit ourselves to work together for collaboration, understanding, and peace,” Prabowo concluded.
