Apple to Build AirTag Factory in Batam Valued at USD 1 Billion

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - US company Apple has committed to build an AirTag vendor factory in Batam, Riau Islands, worth USD 1 billion (IDR 16 trillion). This was revealed by Investment and Downstream Minister/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Head Rosan Roeslani after a meeting with Apple Vice President of Global Policy Nick Amman in Jakarta, Tuesday (1/7).
“They have spoken and are fully committed to the construction of the first phase of the AirTag vendor at US$1 billion,” said Minister Rosan.
The factory will produce AirTags or tracking devices and is scheduled to be completed in early 2026. Minister Rosan also expects the factory to fulfil 65 percent of the global AirTag demand.
He also added that the construction of this factory is the first phase of investment. In the future Apple will invite other vendors to Indonesia so that the value of investment will continue to grow.
