Prabowo Inaugurates Danantara, Marking a New Era in National Investment Strategy

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially launched the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (2/24). The inauguration was marked by a joint button press by President Prabowo, accompanied by Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo and 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
"With bismillahirrahmanirrahim, on this Monday, February 24, 2025, I, as the President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby launch the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency, Danantara Indonesia," Prabowo stated before pressing the inauguration button.
This historic moment was also witnessed by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, along with former Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla, Boediono, and Ma’ruf Amin. Also in attendance were State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir and Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Roeslani.
As Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara will manage national assets worth over USD 900 billion, with an initial capital of USD 20 billion. Prior to the launch, President Prabowo had signed three key regulations related to the agency's establishment:
- Law No. 1 of 2025, amending Law No. 19 of 2003 on State-Owned Enterprises.
- Government Regulation (PP) No. 10 of 2025, regarding Danantara’s governance and organizational structure.
- Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 30 of 2025, on the appointment of Danantara’s Supervisory Board and Executive Body.
Following the inauguration, Jokowi immediately congratulated Prabowo on the launch of this strategic investment agency. "Congratulations, Sir," Jokowi said while applauding.
With the establishment of Danantara, Indonesia is expected to optimize its asset management and attract investments to drive long-term economic growth.
