Danantara Allocates IDR 300 Trillion to Boost National Development

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto announced that more than IDR 300 trillion in efficiency savings will be managed by Danantara to finance at least 20 national strategic projects.
The funds, equivalent to approximately USD 20 billion, come from budget savings in sectors previously prone to corruption, inefficiency, or misallocation.
"Danantara Indonesia will manage and invest these funds in more than 20 national projects as part of our industrialization and downstream processing efforts," President Prabowo stated during the launch of Danantara at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday.
Some of the key strategic projects set to receive funding from Danantara include downstream processing of nickel, bauxite, and copper, as well as the development of data centers, artificial intelligence, oil refineries, and petrochemical plants. Additionally, investments will be allocated to food and protein production, aquaculture, and renewable energy projects.
"These are the sectors that will shape our future, resilience, and national independence," the President emphasized.
In his speech, Prabowo also addressed questions and doubts regarding the establishment of the Investment Management Agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara). He acknowledged that this initiative is still new and unprecedented in Indonesia.
However, Prabowo affirmed that Danantara will become one of the largest sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) in the world, with total assets reaching over USD 900 billion.
As a superholding for state-owned enterprises (SOEs), Danantara is expected to serve as a strategic solution for optimizing state-owned companies through dividend investments in sustainable, long-term industries.
