SEA Today Business: Exclusive Discussion with Mr. Honesti Basyir on Telecommunications Business and Sustainability
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - On Wednesday (8/5), SEA Today welcomed Telkom Indonesia’s Group Business Development Director, Honesti Basyir, who joined as a guest speaker on SEA Today Business. Basyir provided insights on transforming telco business and sustainability through data center management on the live talk show.
Basyir highlighted Telkom Indonesia’s effort to consolidate its Singapore data centers under one umbrella unit in February this year. Telin Singapore’s data center business has been transferred to Telkom Indonesia’s subsidiary NeutraDC Singapore (NDSG) for $219 million.
“After we consolidated our data center in Singapore into TDE (Telkom Data Ekosistem), right now we operate in terms of capacity: 42 megawatts, and this builds into four countries. We have the biggest one in Indonesia and Singapore, and we also have a small one in Hong Kong and Timor-Leste,” said the former President Director of Indonesia’s state-owned pharmacy company, Biofarma.
Telkom Indonesia currently has 30 data center facilities in Indonesia and overseas, and it plans to expand them to other regions through partnerships with global players. In 2030, TDE targets managing up to 400 megawatts of data center capacity.
The state-owned company also applies environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles by implementing cooling system management, renewable energy resources, water-efficient technology, and hazardous waste management.
It is proven as Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin) receives the prestigious BCA-IMDA Green Mark Platinum Award in recognition of its building features.
“This certification is demonstrated how we have at least 30% of the energy saving for non-residential air-conditioned building. So, I think this is the command for us to, for the social environment stability and also the operational excellence,” Basyir concluded.
