Indonesia Records USD4.47 Billion Trade Surplus in March 2024
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia's Central Statistics Bureau (BPS) announced on Monday (4/22) that the country's trade surplus reached 4.47 billion US dollars in March 2024. This figure represents an increase compared to both the previous month and the same period last year (year-on-year).
According to Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, Acting Head of BPS, the surplus was primarily driven by the non-oil and gas sector, which recorded a surplus of 6.51 billion US dollars. Meanwhile, the oil and gas sector experienced a deficit of 2.04 billion US dollars.
Amalia further explained that the United States, India, and the Philippines were the top contributors to Indonesia's trade surplus. Conversely, Thailand, Brazil, and Australia were the countries with the deepest deficits.
Previously, BPS also reported that Indonesia's import value in March 2024 reached 17.96 billion US dollars. This figure signifies a decrease of 2.6 percent compared to the previous month and 12.76 percent year-on-year.
