Govt. Raises Electric Motorcycle Conversion Subsidy to IDR10 Million
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has increased the subsidy for the conversion of electric motorcycles from IDR 7 million to IDR10 million. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said that the amount of incentives for converting electric motors should be greater than the incentives for buying new ones, which is IDR7 million per unit.
This policy is taken to increase public interest and ease the cost of converting fuel oil (BBM) to electric motors, which reaches about Rp14 million per unit. Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources suspected that the low participation of the public in the conversion of electric motors was due to lack of socialization, rather expensive prices, and concerns about the components of electric motors.
For people who want to convert their fuel motor to an electric motor, they can register online through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' EBTKE website (ebtke.esdm.go.id). The engine capacity of motorcycles that can be converted to electricity is in the range of 100-150 CC.
