Indonesia, Qatar Agreed on Joint Building of 1 Million Units of Affordable Housing

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The governments of Indonesia and Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for investment in the development of the 1 Million Residential Unit Project for the lower middle class in Indonesia, Wednesday (1/8).
The agreement was signed by Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Minister Maruarar Sirait with the Kingdom of Qatar Housing Investor (SHK) His Highness Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
“My group and I will invest in Indonesia. This project is social housing for the people, and we will work on it professionally with the support of all parties here. We hope that with the support of the President, the ministers, and all those involved, we can succeed in this project,” Sheikh Abdulaziz said.
Minister Maruarar said this agreement is the government's effort to accelerate the provision of affordable housing for the community. He also revealed that the target of building 3 million housing units in the last two months has shown significant results, and attracted many investors.
In addition to fulfill the people's needs, this project is also expected to improve the quality of life, create jobs in the construction sector, and have a positive impact on the Indonesian economy.
